"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Columbia/Ruffhouse Records, 1998
THE DEAL: It's a new week, I'm back in New York for the day, and I'm getting rid of all negative energy. How shall I start, you ask? By erasing the word "can't" from my vocabulary. But not before playing a week full of songs with the word in them. How's that for purging? Today's joint is from Lauryn, who just had ANOTHER child. Guess she's another one who removed "can't" from her vocabulary. *snark*
"Nothing Even Matters," Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Columbia/Ruffhouse Records, 1998
THE DEAL: I think the rain has me in a sentimental mood this week. So if you see a lot of slow jams this week, that's probably why. It's Monday, we dodged the snow, so as Lauryn said once, nothing even matters. Except maybe when D'Angelo will come out with a new CD. That matters. Anyway, enjoy the music and enjoy the week.
